1. Who we are
PlantStack is a plant-identification app built by Northstack Studio ("we", "us"). PlantStack lets you identify plants from a photo and learn how to care for them. This policy explains what we collect when you use the PlantStack app, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
2. The short version
PlantStack is free and needs no account — you never give us your name, email, or a password. We collect the minimum needed to identify your plants and make the app work. Your saved plants stay on your device. We never sell your data. We do not use your photos to train AI models. You can delete your data at any time.
3. Information we collect
- Photos you scan — when you take or upload a photo to identify a plant, that image is sent to our plant-recognition provider to return a result. Your identifications and their photos are saved to your "My Plants" list locally on your device. You can delete any saved plant from within the app at any time.
- Anonymous identifier — the app signs in silently in the background with an anonymous identifier. You never create an account and we never ask for your name, email, or a password.
- Contact data — any message you send us by email.
- Usage data — in-app events (screens viewed, app version, platform, language) that we use to understand how the app is used and to fix issues.
4. How we use it
We use this data to identify the plants in your photos, deliver care information, respond to your inquiries, and fix bugs. When you scan a plant, your photo is sent to our plant-recognition provider solely to generate an identification result — it is not used for advertising or to train AI models. We do not use your data for behavioral advertising.
5. Sharing
We share data only with the subprocessors needed to run the service:
- Plant-recognition provider — processes the photos you scan to generate an identification. Your photos are not used to train models on your behalf.
- Google Firebase — provides the anonymous sign-in, basic infrastructure, and analytics events (screens viewed, app version, platform, language).
- Sentry — crash reporting and error monitoring. Sentry may receive technical data such as device type, OS version, and anonymized stack traces when the app encounters an error.
6. Retention
Your saved plants live locally on your device under your control — there is no server-side account for us to delete. They stay until you delete them in the app or uninstall PlantStack. Diagnostic and crash data is kept only as long as needed to investigate issues and is deleted on a rolling basis, typically within 90 days.
7. Your rights
You are in control of your data at any time. You can delete any saved plant directly in the app, and uninstalling PlantStack removes all data stored locally on your device. If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you also have specific rights under the GDPR and CCPA — write to batamapps.info@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256) wherever we store it. We follow least-privilege access and run security reviews. Because there is no account, we never handle your name, email, or a password.
9. Children
PlantStack is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will remove it.
10. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will post a notice on this page at least 30 days before the change takes effect.
